How can I clean corroded chrome on a harley that has been in storage.?
This bike has been in storage and it looks like the chrome is starting to pit. No rust. Any ideas on how to clean the rough stuff.

- The best thing I know of is to damp a cloth and dab it in some comet cleaner and rub the pits and rust out, if it's really bad take aluminum foil and rub into it, then chrome polish the crap out of it
- eagle makes this wad chrome polish that works well on that type of stuff. It takes alot of elbow greese though. U can get it at Wal-mart, autozone, o'reillys. If it doesn't come out with that stuff. U will need to dip it in acid and have it rechromed or even powdercoated.
- Just use a good chrome polish like Meguirar's and hope for the best.
- mothers mag chrome polish and steel wool then a terry cloth and the polish buff it
- There is a product called " Blue Job" it's a calcium carbonate powder that is applied with a damp cloth an a lot of rubbing. It is the only way---- the only way, to clean heavy build up on chrome without scratching the shitouta it. Try it, it's a lot of rubbing but the finished product is as good as you'll get.
- Paint it matt black.
- there is a product called brasso sold at many grocery stores (about $3) that will clean anything metal or chrome. i had pit marks on my pipes and it brought it back to new.
- I know this sounds nuts but give it a try, get some tinfoil from your kitchen and a can of coke, pour some on the chrome and gently scrub with foil
